Diagnosis and treatment of Polycystic ovary syndrome and irregular periods

There’s no single test to specifically diagnose polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Your health care provider is likely to start with a discussion of your symptoms, medications and any other medical conditions. Your provider also may ask about your menstrual periods and any weight changes. A physical exam includes checking for signs of excess hair growth, insulin resistance and acne.

Hypothyroidism treatment

An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) is usually treated by taking daily hormone replacement tablets called levothyroxine. Levothyroxine replaces the thyroxine hormone, which your thyroid does not make enough of. You’ll initially have regular blood tests until the correct dose of levothyroxine is reached.

Thyroid swelling and thyroid cancer

The main symptom of thyroid cancer is a lump or swelling at the front of the neck just below your Adam’s apple, which is usually painless. Women also have Adam’s apples, but they’re much smaller and less prominent than a man’s. The lymph nodes in your neck can also be affected and become swollen.

Hyperthyroidism

Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) occurs when your thyroid gland produces too much of the hormone thyroxine. Hyperthyroidism can accelerate your body’s metabolism, causing unintentional weight loss and a rapid or irregular heartbeat. Several treatments are available for hyperthyroidism.

GESTATIONAL DIABETES

Gestational diabetes is type of diabetes that can develop during pregnancy in women who don’t already have diabetes. Every year, 2% to 10% of pregnancies in the United States are affected by gestational diabetes. Managing gestational diabetes will help make sure you have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Short stature & height problems in children

Several genetic syndromes can lead to short stature, including Prader-Willi syndrome, Turner syndrome, and Noonan syndrome. Chronic diseases. Growth hormone is produced by the pituitary gland, located in the middle of the brain. Therefore, chronic medical problems that affect the pituitary gland may also affect growth.

DIABETES INSPIDUS EXCESSIVE URINE

Diabetes insipidus (die-uh-BEE-teze in-SIP-uh-dus) is an uncommon disorder that causes an imbalance of fluids in the body. This imbalance leads you to produce large amounts of urine. It also makes you very thirsty even if you have something to drink.

Hormonal Causes of Infertility

The pituitary gland, located in the brain, makes these hormones. Any condition that lowers LH and FSH levels, such as a pituitary tumor, can result in low or no sperm production and low blood testosterone levels.

Puberty & Development Disorders

The diagnosis of precocious puberty should be considered when girls develop the first signs of puberty before age 8, or boys before age 9. Hormone-secreting tumors of the central nervous system, the adrenal gland, the liver or other organs can be responsible for the development of precocious pseudopuberty.

Type 1 Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes, once known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, is a chronic condition. In this condition, the pancreas makes little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone the body uses to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells to produce energy.

HYPERPROLACTINEMIA –UNTIMELY MILK DISCHARGE FROM BREAST

Galactorrhea (guh-lack-toe-REE-uh) is a milky nipple discharge unrelated to the normal milk production of breast-feeding. Galactorrhea itself isn’t a disease, but it could be a sign of an underlying problem. It usually occurs in women, even those who have never had children or after menopause.

ADRENAL DISORDERS

Hormones produced in the adrenal glands include cortisol, adrenaline and aldosterone. Production that is too much or too little can result in adrenal disorders that affect the way your body functions. Adrenal crisis is a medical emergency that happens when there is a severe lack of cortisol.

GYNECOMASTIA – MALE BREAST ENLARGEMENT

Gynecomastia (guy-nuh-koh-MAS-tee-uh) is an increase in the amount of breast gland tissue in boys or men, caused by an imbalance of the hormones estrogen and testosterone. Gynecomastia can affect one or both breasts, sometimes unevenly.

HIRSUTISM– EXCESS FACIAL HAIR IN WOMEN

Hirsutism (HUR-soot-iz-um) is a condition in women that results in excessive growth of dark or coarse hair in a male-like pattern — face, chest and back. With hirsutism, extra hair growth often arises from excess male hormones (androgens), primarily testosterone.

DISORDERS OF SEX DEVELOPMENT & ENDOCRINE GENETIC DISORDERS

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is the most common cause of DSD. The incidence of CAH is 1 in 15,000. The most common cause of CAH is 21-hydroxlase deficiency resulting in virilization of a child with 46,XX

INSULIN PUMP

For people living with diabetes who are tired of injections, an insulin pump can bring welcomed relief. Insulin pumps are small, computerized devices that deliver insulin in two ways: In a steady measured, and continuous dose (the “basal” insulin), or. As a surge (“bolus”) dose, at your direction, around mealtime.

CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITORING

Continuous glucose monitoring automatically tracks blood glucose levels, also called blood sugar, throughout the day and night. You can see your glucose level anytime at a glance. You can also review how your glucose changes over a few hours or days to see trends.
